Southern Staffordshire comprises the 6 districts of Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, Stafford and Tamworth. It contains the towns of Burton upon Trent, Cannock, Lichfield, Rugeley, Tamworth, Uttoxeter, and Stafford and is interlaced with a series of villages and communities. The area is of a very significant scale, home to 595,000 people and nearly 22,000 businesses.
Southern Staffordshire is crossed by several major roads including the M6, A5 and A38 and of more recent vintage the M6 Toll. Important rail routes including the West Coast Mainline and a number of commuter lines into Birmingham also traverse it.
